Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 August 2026

Chordhead is designed to collect only the information needed to provide accounts, cloud saves and paid subscriptions.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Chordhead collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

If you use Chordhead without creating an account, your progress and working data may be stored locally on your device.

If you create an account, we may collect:

  • your email address;

  • authentication information associated with Google, Apple or email sign-in;

  • a unique account identifier;

  • chord progressions and other content you choose to save to your account;

  • subscription and entitlement information;

  • technical information required to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service.

If you use Sign in with Apple and choose Hide My Email, Apple may provide Chordhead with a private relay email address instead of your personal email address.

Microphone access

Chordhead may request access to your device microphone when you use the tuner.

Microphone audio is used to analyse pitch on your device. Chordhead does not intentionally upload or store tuner audio.

How we use your information

We use information only as reasonably necessary to:

  • create and authenticate your account;

  • save and synchronise your chord progressions;

  • provide paid Chordhead Pro features;

  • restore and verify subscriptions;

  • provide account support;

  • maintain the security and reliability of Chordhead;

  • comply with legal obligations.

Service providers

Chordhead uses third-party services to operate parts of the app.

These currently include:

  • Supabase for authentication, account data and cloud storage;

  • RevenueCat for subscription and entitlement management;

  • Apple, where you choose to use Sign in with Apple or make a purchase through the App Store;

  • Google, where you choose to use Google Sign-In;

  • Resend for transactional emails such as account verification.

These providers may process information on our behalf in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable law.

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers.

Payments

Chordhead is currently available on iOS. Purchases are made through the App Store and processed by Apple.

Chordhead does not receive or store your full payment-card details.

Data retention and deletion

We retain account information and cloud-saved content while your account is active, or for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service and meet legal obligations.

You can delete your Chordhead account from within the app.

Account deletion removes your Chordhead account and associated cloud data that we are not legally required to retain. If you signed in with Apple or Google, we also attempt to revoke that provider's authorization for Chordhead as part of deletion; this is done on a best-effort basis and does not delay or prevent your account from being deleted.

Deleting your Chordhead account does not delete progressions, settings or other data stored locally on your device — you can remove that separately by deleting the app.

Deleting your Chordhead account does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription. Subscriptions can be managed through your Apple account.

Apple requires apps offering account creation to let users initiate deletion of the account and associated data from within the app.

Your choices

You may:

  • use Chordhead without creating an account where the app permits;

  • request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you;

  • delete your account from within Chordhead;

  • contact us with a privacy question or complaint.

Australian privacy guidance recommends that a privacy policy explain access, correction and complaint processes in addition to what information is collected and how it is used.International processing

Some of the service providers used by Chordhead may process or store information outside Australia.

By using Chordhead, your information may therefore be processed in countries other than the country in which you live, subject to applicable privacy protections.

Changes to this policY

We may update this Privacy Policy as Chordhead develops.

The latest version will always be available on this page, with the date of the most recent update shown above.
